Covenant of Seasons: Monotype Exhibition,
31  x  23¼ inches, 1992.

A Covenant of Seasons

An exhibition of 48 masterful monotypes paired with the poetry of Colorado poet Pattiann Rogers, organized by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, Virginia.  It traveled to The Tremaine Gallery, at the Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Connecticut; Oberlin College, in Oberlin, Ohio; and at The Lamont Gallery, at Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, NH.

The Solo Monotype Exhibition travels on its ninth year, "...overwhelming viewers with rich colors and diverse places where it is possible to leave one's heart. Her monotypes are strong in Form and color, yet they are fragile in that each is a singular, risky attempt to manipulate pigments that defy Duesberry as she paints on a plate that will be printed in
reverse. She has conquered nature through her choice of subject and details, yet the natural pigment materials she uses are at the very edge of her control. Working in monotype, she has only one chance to make it all come together. She works quickly to keep the images and pigments fresh, yet guiding her instantaneous gesture are years of studying art history, drawing and painting." -Roger Mandle

The exhibition has also been turned into a book titled A Covenant of Seasons..."marries the work and imagery of two artists, a painter and a writer, both expressing their personal responses to nature passing through the metamorphoses of four seasons." -Hilton Kramer
